PROJ 001: NSX And La Marzocco
“Cars and Coffee”, we’ve all heard about it, most of us have been to one, it’s a stable amongst the community, but it’s strayed further and further away from looking at cars and drinking coffee every Sunday morning every year that passes. We wanted to make sure we could cement the sacred bond with photographic evidence in a way fitting of the legendary activity.
Enter, NSX and La Marzocco. Two powerhouses in their own right, matching in color, together in a setting fitting of their majesty.
This was our first project, a project meant equally to do something we’ve wanted to do for awhile, and also to train together, work on how we can be a team, and how everything works together. We also used this experience to take a lot of behind the scenes photos to “announce” the company.
A friend of ours, “Charles” was there to help out with the behind the scenes photos, taking a lot of shots of us while we were working.
We went in to this project with a little bit of information about what we each wanted to do, but not a lot of ideas of how we’d help each other do it. Jori and Derick’s main job were to support Karmen and Cole, while Cole took point on shooting video, and Karmen on photo. Each one of us developed a specific idea on what deliverables we’d give ourselves, as if we were working for a client, and overall it went quite well. It was a very cold day, and we had a LOT to do in a fairly short amount of time. So with that, we got started on Karmen’s first set. This set was to center mostly around the lifestyle, the lifestyle of someone that would drive their heavily modified, supercharged, 90’s NSX to the middle of mountain road to have some coffee, but not just any coffee, coffee they made themselves in their own La Marzocco Espresso machine. Obviously, that sort of person is… rare to say the least, so some imagination was required.
Cole focused on video, he focused more on the vehicle itself, but the idea was to showcase a mountain drive, a cathartic solo drive to nowhere, parking only when inspiration struck.
